Join GIGXR at Microsoft’s 24H Virtual Conference

Feb 2, 2021 10:13:03 AM

Looking to learn more about extended reality (XR)? Wondering what it really has to offer in healthcare training and medical education?

Join GIGXR’s Garry Putland for an interactive interview on Tuesday, February 9th at 11:00PM to 11:20PM CET / 5:00 PM to 5:20 EST. See how XR broadens access to key elements of simulation training as part of the 24 hour Holographic Surgery virtual event presented by Microsoft.

Putland will showcase GIGXR’s HoloPatient application, simulation software where instructors can recreate a wide variety of pathologies using holographic standardized patients. He’ll also be demonstrating the Microsoft HoloLens 2 headset and how its capabilities inform HoloPatient’s functionality.Garry PutlandYou’ll also get a chance to see the groundbreaking HoloPatient Remote, an extension of HoloPatient that allows instructors wearing HoloLens 2 to share content with students remotely from their Android or iOS smartphones or tablets.

This “2.5D” solution is a massive step forward for online and hybrid learning. Remote students can set up the holographic patient so it appears in their own environment, while  interacting in  real-time with instructors and other students via VOIP.

As technologists and former educators, we believe remote learning to be a long-term solution, not just a pandemic-era one. Being able to teach classes across multiple classrooms or campuses creates cost-effective, time-efficient options.

And while simulation hours continue to be a critical component of clinical requirements,  leveraging XR lessens the burden of expensive simulation labs and the extensive space and personnel needs of standardized patient programs.
